Additionally, you'll be equipped to prepare and administer medications using proper mathematical formulas, authorize drug refills as directed by a physician, prepare and telephone prescriptions to a pharmacy, perform phlebotomy, and give injections and immunizations.

You'll also receive pharmacology training as it relates to medical assisting, as well as trained to prepare patients for X-rays, perform electrocardiograms, remove sutures, perform wound care, change dressings, and assist in minor surgical procedures.

Your medical assistant training program includes these courses:

  • Pharmacology (30 Hours)
  • Anatomy and Physiology (75 Hours)
  • Medical Assisting Back Office (245 Hours)

In addition to the CMAA and RMA certification, you will be prepared to earn a CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification offered by the American Heart Association (AHA), if you do not already hold this certification.
